This new Trail is a long distance 60 mile

The opening of the Copper Trail coincided
with the publication of a new detailed
guide and information book, which details
the route, and pinpoints the attractions and
history to be found along the way...

The Copper Trail circumnavigates "The Hidden Heart of Cornwall". To quote from Mark's book...
"It is a special place, rich in birdsong and wildlife, largely unspoilt, despite its industrial past. It's a place
where the pace of life is slow and farming is less intensive than elsewhere in the country. Wild flowers grow
in abundance - drifts of primroses in the hedgerows and carpets of bluebells in the woods."

Copper Trail bookThe Copper Trail route incorporates some of Cornwall's finest scenery, including features around our part of the moor such as Golitha Falls, many pretty moorland villages - St.Neot has won the national Village of the Year award (and now Village of the Decade!), ancient archaeological sites such as Trethevy Quoit and the the Iron Age hill-fort of Berry Castle, and World Heritage Cornish Mining sites such as the South Caradon copper mine and the Phoenix Mines.

Mark has split the Copper Trail into six sections, so that each should be possible to walk in a day. The whole walk can be started anywhere along its route, either from the start of a section, or from the middle of a section. Breaks can be taken to suit the choice of accommodation stops.

Redgate Smithy is a good starting point or stop-over along the way, as it is situated just by the Trail above Golitha Falls. Alternatively, why not use Redgate Smithy as a base, and drive to each section? The whole length can done in six days, and we can also forward any baggage as may be required.

Or just walk a section of the Copper Trail while you are here...
~ Minions to St.Neot is particularly good, and Redgate Smithy is right in the middle! ~
