Only three miles from Liskeard, the area is lovely for walking, birdwatching, and the natural landscapes of Bodmin Moor. The North and South Coasts are never far away. Its fringes are scattered with tiny farms and homesteads of granite and slate, with boundaries of turf and stone to enclose the meagre, hard won fields, and its vast sweep is broken by a tumbled mass of rugged tors and smoothly rounded downs and only here and there the dark, forlorn outline of a tortured, stunted tree leaning from the wind." - taken from W.MacArthur "The River Fowey" (1948) -







Relax in our lovely woodland garden, or sit on one of our patios while you plan your exploring. Why not visit the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site just up the road at Minions. These mine sites include the South Caradon Mine (featured on BBC’s "Restoration"), and Phoenix United. Down the lane are the beautiful Golitha Falls, and the remains of the old Wheal Victoria Copper Mine. Up on the moor there is another world... Bodmin Moor has a rugged beauty, where wildlife abounds, and the Buzzards wheel above you! There are natural features like the curious Cheesewring, and many ancient neolithic settlements, stone circles and other sites, including the Hurlers and Trethevy Quoit. There is a beautiful flat walk at Siblyback Lake with waterside tea shop and cafe, and on the edge of the moor is King Doniert's Stone, and our local village of St.Cleer. For the adventurous, there is also Sailing, boating and Trout Fishing available at Siblyback. Moorland Riding & Hacking can also be found within easy distance, or for a more adventurous walk, why not try a local section of the Copper Trail. From the nearby old market town of Liskeard runs the scenic Looe Valley Line, alongside the East Looe River. Not far away are Carnglaze Caverns, an old slate mine near St.Neot, and Sterts Open Air Theatre near Upton Cross. The famous Eden Project is easily reached in less than a half hour drive, and don't forget the houses and gardens at Lanhydrock, Cotehele and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The lively harbours of Fowey, Polruan, Polperro and Looe are all very easily accessible, as is the rugged north coast, for Padstow and Tintagel.
