At Redgate Smithy Bed and Breakfast in Cornwall, we are very dog friendly! You will find us in the heart of SE Cornwall, on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor, just above the beautiful Golitha Falls. We also have a lovely woodland garden for guests to use and wander in, and a friendly dog is our Special Guest! We are a friendly 4-star standard professionally run B&B with attractive rooms, very comfortable beds, and we offer a relaxing award winning breakfast, served in the conservatory overlooking the garden. There are also many other dog friendly facilities to help you enjoy your stay with us (see list below).

Some of our Special Guests enjoy taking their humans for a lovely wander down our lane for those little walks out, or down to Golitha Falls for a longer jaunt, but of course please always “pick-up” as necessary! There is also a great 3-mile walk and romp around Siblyback Lake a very short drive away, and of course there is all of Bodmin Moor to explore up at Minions and beyond... so there is no shortage of exercise! Doggie Bags are available in the porch, and there is a special bin in the car park. We also keep some old towels for dog drying in the porch, for those occasions when the walk is a little damper than usual! See the full list of "Dog Friendly B&B" Facilities below for details of everything else doggie.

Brydy our very dog friendly sprocker spaniel! Our own Special Friend, who came to live with us in 2011, is called Brydy, and she is an eight year-old quaintly named Sprocker (which is a springer spaniel and cocker spaniel cross). Brydy has a wonderful temperament, being a cross between the home-loving and affectionate (and more often than not, of the "leap before you think" mentality!) cocker spaniel, and the lively and forever-active (and of the "for goodness sake, think before you leap!" mentality) springer spaniel.

Brydy is a beautiful Irish name, which suits her character, and she is wonderfully well-behaved... she loves playing, loves her walks, and is always very happy to say hello to all our guests, people and doggies alike! She has great fun exploring the woods at Golitha Falls, the path around Siblyback Lake, and visiting all the new places that we're taking her to, either out on Bodmin Moor or on the coast... and she also now has her sea-legs, both in it and sailing on it!

Brydy among the bluebells down in Golitha woodsDog Walking on Bodmin Moor

Bodmin Moor is a unique, rugged, yet beautiful and fragile moorland area, where wildlife abounds, whether it be the grazing sheep and ponies, wheeling buzzards above you, or other flora and fauna close underfoot. Bodmin Moor is a wonderful place for dog walking and exploring, but please remember that the moor itself is still very much a working environment, where the welfare of both livestock and land need full consideration while you are walking out and about. With sheep all over the moor, dogs need to be kept under full control when out walking, and particularly during the five months of March to July when it is lambing time, and ground nesting time for birds.
